fashion geek moment

I title this with entry with complete affection and a tinge of jealousy.  My friend, Bebe Lerner, had informed me about the Christian Louboutin appearance at the Beverly Hills Barneys New York store on May 7th.  Of couse, I had received the postcard but had written it off as another impossibility to attend at 2pm on a Wednesday.  Most people who can attend things like that live a life of leisure and don’t report to a desk job. Unfortunately, I am not quite there yet.

I’m so glad she shared these photos with wallflour.  Aside from looking like a UB40 ‘rat in the kitchen’ album cover, I was thoroughly impressed with her dedication to wait two hours in line, to purchase the “simple pump” in red and have them personalized by Louboutin himself.  A true fashion geek moment, nothing short of pure obsession and all with the price tag of $550 and two hours of your life.  A small price to pay for a bragging rights and a few moments of bliss, which we experienced as she pulled one signed shoe out of the red dust bag at Mozza Pizzeria’s eat-at-bar after we were through with dinner.  Coincidentally, we were unaware of a Mario Batali book signing event earlier that same day until we walked into the pizzeria and saw it scrawled on the chalkboard.  Red hair, red soled shoes.  hmmm  Red shoes win.
